Project Works
Works for this project will commence 1 July 2024 with completion estimated to be December 2024, weather permitting. The works include:
During the flooding events in February and March 2022, the runoff from Chinaman’s creek caused significant damage to the current storm water pipes, headwalls, and road pavement, at Priestley Street in Mittagong. Subsequently, the road and bank channel have suffered erosion and approximately 20 meters of road pavement needs to be reconstructed. To ensure efficient drainage of the creek water, it is necessary to build a drainage structure. The upgrade of the culvert, and associated works are part of the disaster recovery efforts.
Community Impacts
Road users and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution in the presence of heavy machinery and construction workers in the area. When travelling through the work zones it is essential to exercise care and adhere to the altered traffic conditions. A section of the road will be closed during the construction period and signs for detours will be placed around the area, from Monday 1 July 2024. The Traffic Management Plan will undergo approval by Council. The construction works will be undertaken ensuring minimal disruption and inconvenience to road users and neighbouring properties.
