Backyard Burning Policy Map

Use this interactive map developed by Council to see how Council's Backyard Burning Policy applies to individual properties within our Shire.

The map allows you to search for a property and see if backyard burning is allowed and, importantly, what conditions need to be complied with when planning or undertaking any backyard burning.

The information available in this online map will change over time in line with changes to the Local Environmental Plan (LEP) or housing subdivisions.

We encourage you to check the details of the existing LEP and your property information before any backyard burning to ensure that you have the most up-to-date information.

How to use the Backyard Burning Policy Map

1. Click the link above to open the Urban Backyard Burning Policy Map.


2. Type an address into the "Find address or place" field located in the top left corner of the map, then press Enter or click the magnifying glass icon. 


3. The map view will adjust to display the property you have searched for in the centre, with the property colour-coded according to its backyard burning eligibility status. Please refer to the legend to the left of the map.


4. Click on a property to see a pop-up box with information about the property's backyard burning eligibility.


5. Click the "More info" link inside the pop-up to read critical information about the property's eligibility conditions before you undertake any burning.
