Wingecarribee Shire Council advises residents that the Community Recycling Centre (CRC) and Mobile CRC are temporarily unable to accept gas bottles and paint.

This is due to capacity limitations caused by the Cleanaway factory fire in St Mary’s, whichhas disrupted waste processing at multiple Community Recycling Centres and Household Chemical CleanOut events across NSW.

Impacted Services:

  • Community Recycling Centre & Resource Recovery Centre – No acceptance of gas bottles and all paint types.
  • Mobile Community Recycling Centre – No acceptance of gas bottles and all paint types.

Important Information for Residents:

  • Until services resume, residents are advised to store household problem waste safely in clearly labelled containers, in a cool, dry place, away from children and pets.
  • Other household problem waste items are still being accepted at the CRC as usual.
  • The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is working with Cleanaway to resolve the issue, with the next update expected by 24 February 2025.
