Damien Leith Announced as Wingecarribee’s Australia Day Ambassador

Wingecarribee Shire Council is delighted to announce Damien Leith as the Australia Day Ambassador for 2025.  

Damien Leith is a multi-talented artist renowned as a singer, songwriter, producer, author, playwright, and radio host. He first captured Australia's attention by winning Australian Idol in 2006 and has since achieved platinum-selling albums and numerous prestigious awards, including ARIAs and a Golden Guitar. Beyond music, Damien has authored novels, hosted television shows, and currently co-hosts the breakfast radio show on WAVE FM 96.5 in Wollongong. 

The Australia Day Citizenship and Citizen of the Year Award Ceremony will be held in historic Berrima village from 9am to 11am, Sunday 26 January. Australia Day in Berrima is full day of family fun featuring a grand parade, market stalls, local food, live entertainment, amusement rides and activities.  

There will also be the opportunity to chat with your local councillors at the Council tent during the event.
