New Bridge Works at Priestley Street, Mittagong
Published on 17 June 2024
Welcome news in the wake of extreme weather events, Mittagong residents can expect more efficient stormwater drainage with the replacement of the existing pipe culvert with a new bridge at Priestley Street from 24 June 2024, weather permitting.
Upgrade works will address the poor condition of the existing culvert and road at Chinamans Creek with the construction of an Inquik Bridge Structure to span the creek. Road reconstruction, footpath, and kerb & gutter will be constructed, and stormwater pits and pipes installed. Tree removal works will be carried out according to the Environmental Assessment.
Weather permitting, Council aims to complete the works by February 2025.
Road users and pedestrians are advised to exercise caution in the presence of heavy machinery and construction workers in the area. When travelling through the work zones it is essential to exercise care and adhere to the altered traffic conditions. A section of the road will be closed during the construction period and signs for detours will be placed around the area. The Traffic Management Plan will undergo approval by Council. The construction works will be undertaken to ensure minimal disruption and inconvenience to road users and neighbouring properties.
