Wingecarribee Shire Council is set to commence restoration works on the Station Street Camelia Garden located within the grounds of the Bowral Train Station.

The works are being undertaken to preserve and enhance the heritage camelia garden.

Stage 1 of the works involves removal of non-camelia plant species, weed removal, pest spraying and pruning.

Weather permitting, these works will begin Wednesday 27 April and are expected to be complete by Friday 30 April 2022. Car park spaces adjacent to the camellia garden beds along Station Street and within the railway car park will be temporarily unavailable from 26 April 2022. Traffic control measures will be in place along Station Street during this period.

Access to the Bowral Train Station carpark will be restricted during the restoration works and approximately 30 car spaces will be temporarily unavailable.

All works will all be performed under supervision from horticultural and camellia specialists, heritage consultants and drystone wall masons.

Council thanks commuters in advance for their cooperation and apologises for any temporary inconvenience.

Stage 2 works of the restoration project will be undertaken later in the year and will involve installation of electrical power including heritage lighting, restoration of the trachyte garden wall, irrigation installation, garden bed conditioning, planting and mulching.

Dates for Stage 2 of the restoration works will be notified closer to the commencement of works.
