Thank You to Our Community Reference Panel Members: Shaping Wingecarribee's Future Together
Wingecarribee Shire Council extends its heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers who participated in the Community Reference Panels over the past year. Their invaluable contributions have helped us develop robust, community-led strategies that will shape the future of the Shire.
Last year, four Community Reference Panels were established to tackle future challenges related to Climate Change and Environment, Community, Economy, and Sport, Recreation, and Leisure. These panels were instrumental in guiding the review and development of Council strategies in alignment with our Community Strategic Plan.
The panels' roles were to represent the community's views and provide valuable input and feedback to the Council. They fostered active community involvement in high-level strategic policy development, promoting discussion and the exchange of ideas between the Council and the community.
Each panel convened four times throughout the year, comprising eight members each. The panels included a Chairperson from Council, 2-4 technical specialists from relevant agencies, 8 community representatives selected through an Expression of Interest process, and additional experts as needed. Among the community representatives, 2-3 possessed specialist knowledge or technical expertise pertinent to the panel's focus, while the remainder had broad knowledge and strong community connections.
We look forward to continuing this collaborative journey with our community, ensuring that every voice is heard and valued as we navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
