Progress on the Casburn Park Upgrade Project continues to gather momentum with Council awarding the contract to develop the Detailed Design to landscape architect specialist Complete Urban.

Council’s General Manager Lisa Miscamble said the appointment was a significant stage in the redevelopment of Casburn Park.

“For several year’s Council has been closely working with residents and stakeholders of Wingello to redevelop the park,” she said.

“It became particularly evident following the Black Summer bushfires that Casburn Park is not only a popular recreational meeting place but it’s also a vital hub for the broader village.

“The development of the Detailed Design will provide the community with a clear vision of what to expect once construction commences.”

Work on the Detailed Design follows the adoption by Council of the Casburn Park Masterplan in May 2021.

Priorities detailed within the publicly available Masterplan include the community space to be safe, accessible, welcoming and fun. Other principles to be included in the re-development include the promotion of social interaction and retention of the village character.

The awarding of the Detailed Design contract follows Council successfully securing $2.47 million co-funded by the Australian and NSW Governments under the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Fund to progress the project.

Key elements earmarked for progressive inclusion in the revamped park include the construction of a new amenities block and timber deck, expanded play space area including a BMX ‘Pump Track’ and improved carparking.

“The Detailed Design is the next step towards delivering the wishes of the community and the final stage before construction commences,” Ms Miscamble added.

“We thank everyone from Wingello who has contributed to the process thus far and thank the community for their ongoing patience.”

The Detailed Design of Casburn Park is expected to be complete early next year with initial construction anticipated to start in mid-2023.
