Join Wingecarribee Shire Council's Next Candidate Information Session

Wingecarribee Shire Council’s next Candidate Information session for 2024 is scheduled for 12 June 2024, from 3.30 pm - 5.30 pm. As with previous candidate sessions, we would like to invite those individuals interested in local governance and potential candidates planning to run in September's Local Government Elections to attend.

The informative session, facilitated by experienced Local Government Leader John Rayner PSM, will offer valuable insights not covered in previous sessions, such as local government expectations and the councillor induction program. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage in discussions, ask questions, and gain valuable knowledge to aid their candidacy.

The session’s agenda is as follows:

• Welcome and Introduction – John Rayner PSM, former General Manager and Administrator

• What have we done and what’s next? (including Land Use Planning) – Viv May, Administrator 

• Office of Local Government Expectations – Brett Whitworth, Deputy Secretary, Office of Local Government

• Council finances – My Independent View – John Rayner PSM

• Separation of Powers, Meetings, Work Environment and Conduct – John Rayner PSM

• Councillor Induction – Lisa Miscamble, General Manager 

Wingecarribee Shire Council’s General Manager, Lisa Miscamble expressed her enthusiasm to be attending this candidate information session. “I'm excited to share what the incoming Council can expect in their first 9 months,” Lisa further explained, “The comprehensive on-boarding program, training, and support will equip Councillors to hit the ground running and build upon the strong foundation laid for a successful 4-year term.”
