Wingecarribee Shire Council is pleased to announce that the NSW Government Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has officially endorsed The Wingecarribee Local Housing Strategy 2021, titled "Housing Our Community".

The endorsement signifies the State Government's recognition of the Council's comprehensive strategic planning approach to meet the growing housing needs of the Wingecarribee Shire and State Government housing targets.

Council’s General Manager, Lisa Miscamble stated: “We are pleased that the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure has endorsed our Local Housing Strategy. This endorsement signifies the strong foundation this Strategy provides for ensuring the future housing needs of our community are met.”

The Wingecarribee Local Housing Strategy "Housing Our Community" outlines a long-term vision, over the next 30 years, to address the growing population and changing demographics of the Shire. This comprehensive Strategy will guide decisions made by Council, the private sector and the community to deliver new living areas and diverse housing options.

Wingecarribee Shire Council Administrator Viv May PSM commented: “The Department has also proposed working with the Council to identify additional growth opportunities beyond the six New Living Areas (NLAs) identified in our strategy. We need to understand what this means for our community, and Council will be seeking clarification on these potential additions.”

Council remains committed to fostering sustainable growth in the region. We actively engage with State agencies during the early stages of planning proposals to ensure a collaborative approach.
