At the Wingecarribee Local Planning Panel (WLPP) on 23 October 2024, the WLPP refused development application 24/1319 which proposed the use of an existing dwelling house as a group home (transitional) at 2 Manor Rise, Bowral.

The Panel heard from a number of concerned residents who raised matters associated with the potential impacts of the proposed development on the locality and took these concerns into consideration when making its decision to refuse the DA.

The Panel refused the DA for many reasons including the insufficient information that was supplied with the application which failed to address how the proposed development would manage potential natural environment and built form impacts and how it would align to the objectives of the zone in which the site is located.

The applicant has already lodged an appeal with the Land and Environment Court against the deemed refusal of the Development Application.

"Wingecarribee Shire Council has initiated compliance action regarding the use of the premises," said Michael McCabe, Director of Communities and Place. "Due to the ongoing nature of this matter, we are unable to provide further comments at this time."

Wingecarribee Shire Council will continue to monitor the progress of this matter and provide updates to the community as needed.
