Next Stages Confirmed for Mt Gibraltar Amenities and Carpark Upgrade

Upgrades to toilet facilities on Mt Gibraltar will soon progress with the Council moving to register the land for compulsory acquisition with the NSW Land Registry Services.
Following recent setbacks with the Mt. Gibraltar toilet upgrade project and with reference to the protracted negotiations with the private landholder, it was resolved at the Extraordinary Council meeting early May to progress with compulsory acquisition. This will allow progress in the matter and bring us closer to re-commencing the project.
Negotiations with the landowner at Soma Avenue, Bowral, due to disagreements on the purchase price and the land's suitability for the landowner's development plans, resulted in delays to the current project.
At the Extraordinary Meeting on 1 May, Administrator, Viv May resolved that a further report be presented to Council after the necessary acquisition plan for part of the Soma Avenue, Bowral property is registered with the NSW Land Registry Services, marking the beginning of compulsory land acquisition.
“Once land acquisition is completed, Council will be able to proceed with the construction of the new toilet block allowing these works to be finalised and much needed upgraded and new amenities be made available to the public,” said Lisa Miscamble, Wingecarribee Shire Council’s General Manager.
We want to emphasise that while land acquisition processes are taking place, significant progress is being made on the much-needed western car park resurfacing project which is located on Council property. Weather permitting this should be open to the public by early June 2024.
