Due to severe wind gusts associated with the current weather system and the ongoing total fire ban, widespread power outages have occurred in Wingecarribee Shire, impacting water and sewage treatment plants.

At this stage, there is no disruption to water supply and no unlicensed waste water discharge. Council will continue to provide updates on the situation as more information becomes available.

The water treatment plant at Glenquarry and sewage treatment plants (STPs) at Bowral and Bundanoon have experienced power outages, impacting water production and wastewater treatment in these areas. All water supply is to standard with no water quality issues. Additionally, there are widespread power outages across the Sewer Pump Station (SPS) network, primarily in the Bowral, Bundanoon, Mittagong, and Hilltop areas.

To mitigate disruptions, Council has deployed four mobile generators to support critical infrastructure.

Council is working closely with local utility providers to expedite the restoration process as soon as possible.

We advise residents to be mindful of water consumption during this period whilst power and systems are restored.
