Wingecarribee Shire Council has adopted the Southern Highlands Innovation Park (SHIP) Master Plan and Governance Strategy, a significant milestone to unlock the precinct's potential as a cornerstone of regional economic growth.

Located between Moss Vale and New Berrima, the SHIP will transform 1,053 hectares of industrial-zoned land into a dynamic hub for sustainable and innovative industries, driving future prosperity for the region.

The Master Plan has been informed by extensive community and stakeholder engagement to reflect a shared vision that celebrates the character of the Southern Highlands.

Wingecarribee Mayor Fitzpatrick said that the adopted Master plan provided a clear roadmap for the SHIP.

“The SHIP Master Plan focuses on attracting regionally significant development, creating substantial employment opportunities, and capitalising its strategic location near major centres including Sydney, Canberra, Wollongong, and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis,” he said.

To champion innovation, the Master Plan establishes four key precincts: the Activity Node/Creative Hub, fostering creativity and collaboration; Agribusiness/Agri-Innovation, leveraging the region’s agricultural prowess; Research/Training/Advanced Manufacturing, driving technological advancement; and Heavy Industry/Construction, supporting essential industrial activities.

Council is now focused on implementing the Master Plan and Governance Strategy, including the development of a Planning Proposal and detailed planning controls. Securing essential infrastructure funding to support the SHIP’s growth is a top priority, ensuring the precinct realises its full potential.
