Wingecarribee Shire Council invites the community to share the spirit of giving this Christmas by donating to the Mayoral Giving Tree. Donations will be accepted from Monday 2 December to Friday 20 December 2024 at the Civic Centre in Moss Vale.

This initiative aims to support families and individuals experiencing financial hardship during the festive season. All items donated will be passed on to the local branch of the Salvation Army for distribution to local families and individuals in need this Christmas.

Donations must be new and unwrapped gifts suitable for children, teens, or adults. Gifts can be placed under the Mayoral Giving Tree located in the foyer of the Civic Centre.

Details:

  • Location: Wingecarribee Shire Civic Centre, 68 Elizabeth Street, Moss Vale

  • Dates: Monday 2 December – Friday 20 December 2024

  • Hours: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, weekdays

Donating to the Mayoral Giving Tree is not only an act of kindness but also a chance to instil valuable lessons in younger generations.

“For families, involving children in giving serves as a powerful lesson in empathy and gratitude,” said Mayor Fitzpatrick. “It’s an opportunity to teach them the importance of supporting others and fostering a strong, caring community.”

The gifts will help relieve financial stress for those struggling to meet basic needs, bringing hope and joy during what can be a challenging time of year.

“This initiative is about more than just giving - it’s about inspiring hope and reminding us all of the strength and generosity of our community,” added Mayor Fitzpatrick.

Let’s come together as a community and make this festive season a little brighter for everyone.
