Victory for Our Community: Independent Planning Commission Rejects Moss Vale Plastics Recycling Facility Proposal

The NSW Independent Planning Commission has refused the Moss Vale Plastics Recycling Facility (Plasrefine) proposal.  

Wingecarribee Shire Council is elated that the significant concerns raised by our community, including environmental, social, safety and amenity impacts, have been considered in this decision.  

Council has been a steadfast advocate for the Southern Highlands community throughout this lengthy process, presenting detailed submissions, raising concerns with state authorities, and highlighting the importance of preserving our unique environment and lifestyle.  

Mayor Jesse Fitzpatrick said the decision was a testament to the power of collective advocacy and community engagement. 

“This decision reflects the power of when the community and Council come together. Council has stood firmly alongside our residents throughout this process, advocating for their concerns to be heard at the highest levels. We thank our community for their steadfast engagement and will continue working together to ensure future developments align with the values, aspirations and environment of our Shire. I would also like to thank Wendy Tuckerman MP – Member for Goulburn, for her unwavering advocacy over the past four years and rallying behind the community, and Judy Hannan MP – Member for Wollondilly for her ongoing support.”
