Bowral CWA Overwhelmed by Demand at Tulip Time Festival

Published on 19 September 2024

The Bowral Branch of the Country Women's Association (CWA) has been a beloved fixture at the annual Tulip Time Festival, delighting visitors with their delicious Devonshire teas and scones. However, this year, the ladies have been run off their feet due to a shortage of volunteers.

Helen Kent, the president of the Bowral CWA branch, explained that the shortage of volunteers had made it challenging to keep up with the high demand.

“We've been making over $2000 a day and will have baked over 5000 scones by the end of this week,” said Helen.

“To ease the pressure off our volunteers, we have made the decision to remove sandwiches from our offerings this year. However, please come and visit us for a lovely high tea experience featuring our famous scones. We also have an arts and crafts stall with delicious homemade preserves that you can take home.

“With more volunteers, we could expand our offerings and cater to even more visitors,” she said.

The CWA's presence at the Tulip Time Festival is a beloved tradition and a significant economic contributor to the region. By supporting the CWA and volunteering at the festival, you can help ensure that this popular event continues to thrive and bring joy to the community.

If you're interested in joining the Bowral CWA branch and volunteering at future events, you can drop into the CWA, located at 40 Wingecarribee Street in Bowral.
