Mobile Recycling Centre - Updated Schedule: July – December 2024
Published on 18 July 2024
Wingecarribee Shire Council is thrilled to announce the July – December 2024 schedule for the Mobile Community Recycling Centre (MCRC), bringing accessible and convenient recycling services to our local communities. We have listened to the communities feedbck and introduced new locations.
The MCRC project aims to address the growing need for efficient waste management by providing a mobile unit equipped with a wide range of recycling facilities. This initiative promotes sustainability, environmental consciousness, and community engagement, ensuring that residents have easy access to proper recycling services.
What is the MCRC?
The MCRC is a fully equipped mobile recycling centre that travels to various suburbs within Wingecarribee Shire Council. The unit offers designated collection points for various problem waste materials, following similar collection items as the Community Recycling Centre hub in Moss Vale.
Items Accepted for Recycling:
- Gas bottles
- Fire extinguishers.
- Aerosols
- Oil and water-based paints
- Household and car batteries
- Motor oils and other oils
- Fluorescent globes and tubes
- Cardboard
- Polystyrene
- Mobile phones
- Smoke detectors.
- Soft plastics
Why Recycle with the MCRC?
Recycling helps reduce waste in landfills, conserves natural resources, and protects our environment. The MCRC makes it easy for residents to dispose of their recyclables properly, ensuring that these materials are processed and reused efficiently.
Important Recycling Tips:
Lithium Battery Safety: Never dispose of lithium batteries in your regular rubbish. They can cause dangerous fires in rubbish collection trucks. Always bring them to the MCRC for safe recycling.
Fluorescent Globes: These contain mercury and should be recycled properly to avoid environmental contamination.
Motor Oils: Improper disposal of motor oils can contaminate water and soil. The MCRC accepts motor oils for safe recycling.
Soft Plastics: Recently added to our list, soft plastics can now be recycled at the MCRC. Bring your plastic bags, wrappers, and other soft plastics to help reduce plastic pollution.
Join us in making a difference by recycling your waste materials responsibly. Check the schedule and mark your calendars for the MCRC visits to your suburb. Together, we can contribute to a cleaner, greener Wingecarribee Shire.
