Road Ahead: Progress on Repairs and Projects

We’ve been hard at work maintaining our roads and infrastructure. See below the works that were undertaken during October.

Pothole Repairs:

  • Over 230 potholes have been filled, with a focus on the Bowral area and surrounds.

  • Crews will continue to address potholes across the Shire, particularly in Moss Vale.

Road Upgrades:

  • 5.6 kilometres of unsealed roads in Kareela and Joadja have been graded.

  • 700 meters of road have been prepared for sealing on Bulwer, Middle, and Old Hume Highways.

  • One kilometre of road surface has been sealed on Quarry Road.

  • Asphalt renewal works have been completed on several roads in the region, including Bowral Street, Mona Street, Loris Street, Robina St, Wingecarribee Street, Old Hume Hwy, Pioneer Street, Princes Street, Lackey Road, IGA Carpark, Yarrawa Street, Farnborough Drive, Hampton Court, James Street, Jensens Lane, and Bromhall Road .

Retford Park Retention Basin:

Construction of the Retford Park Retention Basin is progressing well. This significant project will help mitigate flooding in Bowral by holding back excess water during heavy rainfall. The basin will have a capacity of 320 megalitres (that’s 128 Olympic sized swimming pools!) and is expected to be completed in early 2025 in preparation for any late summer storms.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve our roads and infrastructure.
