Road Ahead: Progress on Repairs and Projects

Throughout December, we continued to deliver improvement works across the road network.  

Pothole Repairs:  

  • 422 potholes were filled and repaired with the vast majority around Braemar, Willow Vale, Renwick, Welby, Hill Top, Robertson, Kangaloon and Glenquarry.  

  • During January, crews will focus on pothole repairs in Bowral and Burradoo. 

Road Upgrades:  

  • 3.75 kilometres of unsealed roads and 7.5 kilometres of associated drainage on River View Road, Yullie Avenue and Rockliegh Road in Bundanoon, and Railway Parade Balmoral, have been upgraded.

Robinson Street Culvert Renewal Project Complete  

The Robinson Street Culvert Renewal Project in Mittagong is now complete.  The project replaced a drainage crossing that was damaged in a flood in February 2022 with new concrete box culverts. The upgrade will increase the capacity of water that can flow through the creek crossing during a large storm, preventing future flooding events.  

The road surface is wider, with a more durable asphalt sealing surface and a drainage system that leads to improved water quality runoff. New signage and guardrails have also been installed to enhance safety. Environmental improvements have been made to the creek bed and banks through rock lining and grass seeding of exposed areas.  

The project budget $680,000 was jointly funded by Council and Transport for NSW Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
