Road Ahead: Progress on Repairs and Projects

With favourable weather conditions throughout February, the works crews have been busy delivering improvement works across our road network.  

Pothole Repairs:  

  • 420 potholes were filled and repaired with the vast majority around the CBD’s of Bowral, Moss Vale and Mittagong, as well as Bundanoon, Exeter, Robertson, Canyonleigh and, Werai. Sealing work on slips in Meryla Road were also undertaken.  

  • 190 customer requests were processed and resolved for the month 

  • During March, crews will continue to address potholes in Colo Vale and Hill Top.

Road Upgrades:  

  • 4 kilometres of unsealed roads were graded on Railway Parade, Balmoral, Mount Ashby Road and Iona Park Road in Moss Vale, and Exeter and Rosedale Road in Exeter. These works included 7.9 kilometres of associated drainage works. 

  • Resealing was completed along Charlotte Street. 

  • Asphalt renewal works were completed on Wingecarribee Street, Albion Street, Old Hume Highway, Pioneer Street, Clarence Street and Princess Street. 

  • During March, crews will undertake grading works in Moss Vale and Buxton.  

Penrose Streetscape Upgrade: 

Council has upgraded the main street of Penrose, resulting in significant improvements including: 

  • Formalised street parking 

  • Pedestrian access and safety  

  • Stormwater drainage 

  • Gardens and landscaping 

  • Bus shelter and bus bay 

  • Traffic calming 

The works included:  

  • Footpaths 

  • Kerb and gutter 

  • Kerb blisters 

  • Road widening and sealing 

  • Bus shelter renewal 

  • Tree removal 

The finishing touches to the site will be done soon with a final bitumen seal of the road and line marking. 

Council staff worked closely with the Penrose Community Association (PCA) in preparing the design and Council’s construction crew undertook the construction works. The bus shelter was restored by PCA.
