The Wingecarribee Public Libraries Bowral Branch is thrilled to announce the overwhelming success of its first-ever 10-week Snapology program for children! Designed to nurture a love of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, the program filled up within just a few days, showcasing the immense interest and appetite for STEM learning opportunities within our community.
Trudy Eccleston, Children and Youth Librarian explains "We're incredibly excited by the response to this pilot Snapology program, each week, children have been eagerly participating in the program, demonstrating a thirst for knowledge and a passion for discovery."
Building on this success, at Bowral Library, the Wingecarribee Libraries are committed to expanding its STEM offerings. As part of the school holiday program, "Chemistry Show" by Fizzics Education, was a resounding hit, with both of these sessions also selling out and attracting over 100 attendees!
To further enhance its program, the Bowral Branch will be acquiring a collection of STEM kits that will be available as part of the Shires Mobile Library service. These kits will address the challenge faced by residents in surrounding villages who may find it difficult to attend programs held in larger towns.
"By making STEM resources readily available through the Mobile Library, we're ensuring that all children in our community have the opportunity to explore the exciting world of science and technology," says Trudy.
Young learners are raving about the Snapology program and have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback on the program!
Eight-year-old Lachlan is enthusiastic about the program, saying: "I love going to my Lego class and learning about forces and cogs. I am very excited about building bumper cars next week!" Lauchlan's parent echoes his enthusiasm saying "My son loves attending Snapology, he looks forward to Monday afternoons every week. I think he is learning a lot more than he realises or can articulate. He has buddied up with a slightly older boy he already knew from school and they are working very well together."
Another parent highlights their daughters enjoyment of the program: "My daughter looks forward to her Snapology class all week long and always bounces out of class to tell me all about this week's project."
Many children are leaving the Snapology program with positive experiences. One child simply stated: "I had the BEST time at Snapology!"
Parents are impressed with the Snapology program as well, many providing feedback that they'd love the program to continue.
This initiative demonstrates Wingecarribee Public Libraries' commitment to fostering a culture of curiosity and innovation in the next generation. Stay tuned for further announcements about upcoming STEM programs and exciting new resources available at the Bowral Branch and through the Mobile Library service!
