Wingecarribee Shire Council has been recognised as a finalist in the 2024 Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Tidy Towns Awards for two projects in the Resource Recovery Awards category.

Our dedication to environmental sustainability and waste management has been acknowledged for our innovative initiatives:

  • Transforming Landfill into a Circular Economy Hub: The Moss Vale Resource Recovery Centre has successfully repurposed a former landfill site into a thriving circular economy hub. By implementing innovative waste processing and recycling programs, the centre has significantly diverted waste from landfills and increased resource recovery rates.
  • The Mobile Community Recycling Centre and Soft Plastics: Our Mobile Recycling Outreach program has provided accessible recycling services to residents, particularly those who may face mobility or transportation challenges. This initiative has demonstrated the Council's commitment to making recycling more inclusive and convenient for all.

The winners of the Tidy Towns Awards will be announced on Saturday, 2 November, at two events to be held in Bathurst, the overall Tidy Towns winner from 2023.
