Defibrillators at Community Halls

To give the community a better access to life-saving defibrillators (defibs), WSC has commenced the Rollout of defibrillators at Community Halls project in early 2024.

Figures from the Heart Foundation show that around 26,000 Australians have a sudden heart attack every year. Defibs that are readily available and training on how to use them properly, is key in improving the 10 per cent survival rate.

Stage 1

During Stage 1 of the rollout, defibs were fitted to the outside of Hill Top, Moss Vale, Welby, New Berrima, and East Bowral Community Centres, as well as Sutton Forest, Exeter, and Loseby Park Hall.

During this stage, a FREE training session on how to use defibs was ran by Tony Van Der Wieden, Manager Illawarra Branch, Accidental Health and Safety for the community. They also provided a free instructional video and some other great resources.

Stage 2

Stage 2 will equip Mittagong Memorial Hall, Wingello and Yerrinbool Hall, Bowral Senior Citizens and Renwick Community Centre. These installations are in progress awaiting Heritage approval with an expectation to be completed end of August 2024.
