Engineering expertise in compliance auditing of management systems

It is a requirement for all entities certified in accordance with environmental, safety and/or organic food certification ISO Standards, to have compliance audits undertaken by qualified third parties at a predetermined frequency (at least annually).

In some cases, the ISO Standards are aligned with Company Standards.

The speaker has undertaken audits to the above Standards throughout Australia in the mining, oil and gas, waste management, and contaminated sites spheres, as well as participation in numerous audits in both Mongolia and in Papua New Guinea.

The speaker continues to conduct internal audits for an organic foods certification body.

Impartiality and confidentiality are key components to any audit. However, the speaker can present many cases of general operational controls and learnings from the many audits undertaken.

About the Speaker

Robert (Bob) Bishop CP Eng (ret) Robert Bishop is an experienced Civil & Environmental Engineer and Lead Systems Auditor who is now semi-retired and actively involved with Engineers Australia’s Southern Highlands & Tablelands Regional Group.

Bob had a 25 year career with BHP steel (in construction), then to coal/coal seam gas operations as BHP Steel Div. Collieries’ Chief Construction & Environmetal Engineer, then five years with Cleanaway in waste management, followed by 24 years auditing environmental, safety and organic certification management systems to three specific ISO/IEC Standards. Bob has participated in over 60 Certification, Re-certification and Periodic Audits of Environmental & Safety Management Systems as Lead Auditor, or Auditor on behalf of DNV Certification. These were followed by the conduct (in Bob’s own right) of Internal Audits of Bowen Basin open cut coal mines and endure for an organic food accreditation company.

The presentation is down stairs in one of the function rooms, usually the Springs Room.
