Moss Vale Station and Stabling Yard Upgrade

In July works will include: 

• closure of the footbridge and ramp between Argyle Street and the station
• temporary hoarding at the station forecourt, courtyard and ticket office
• excavating work for new lift installation at the Argyle Street entrance 
• vegetation removal and upgrade to the retaining wall on the station side of Lackey Road
• MTS work will continue near Dalys Way commuter car park
• deliveries and services to the temporary stabling yard will begin and site compound 3 will be set up on Lackey Road, opposite Parkes Road
• There will be traffic impacts on Lackey Road between Parkes Road and Argyle Street 
• One-way traffic will be in place on a in a section of Lackey Road while vegetation removal and retaining wall work is ongoing for approximately 10 weeks 

When: Traffic controls will be in place in the southbound lane during standard construction hours Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and 8am to 1pm Saturdays

In August works will include:

• continuing excavation and concreting for the new lift installation at the Argyle Street entrance and in the courtyard
• excavating, trenching and services work in the existing work zone of the station forecourt 
• establishing a new work area near the footbridge on Lackey Road for excavation and concreting ahead of lift installation 
• retaining wall construction will continue in the temporary stabling yard area inside the rail corridor. Fencing, power and water services will be installed along with a temporary walkway for rail staff
• setting up site compound 3 on Lackey Road opposite Parkes Road will continue. 
• All work will take place during standard construction hours Monday to Friday 7.00 am to 6.00 pm and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm Saturdays 

• Access to the station waiting room will be through the rear doors.  
• A pick-up and drop-off zone will be available at the station entrance.  
• Traffic controllers on Lackey Road will direct traffic when the southbound lane is closed from Parkes Road towards Argyle Street/Illawarra Highway. There will be no detours and traffic will be bi-directional. 

September works will include:

• setting up a site compound near the Lackey Road footbridge ahead of lift installation 
•  establishing a new site compound further along Lackey Road opposite Parkes Road, including deliveries and some excavation to prepare for work at the stabling yard to begin. 
• steel delivery and installation for the new lift and footbridge maintenance on Argyle Street 
• dust containing small traces of lead and asbestos will continue to be removed from the station building ceilings at night by a licenced asbestos removalist, ensuring the safety of passengers and the community. 
•  opening the temporary stabling yard from Monday 9 September. 
• Most work will take place during standard construction hours Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm and 8am to 1pm Saturdays 
• Out-of-hours work will be carried out between 3am Saturday 14 September and 6pm Sunday 15 September during a scheduled Sydney Trains trackwork period when no trains are running and the station is closed. Some work during this time may generate higher than normal levels of noise. Noise assessments will be carried out and respite vouchers may be offered. 

Work to be completed includes: 

• establishing a temporary bus shelter in Leighton Gardens on Argyle Street for rail replacement buses   
• installing structural steel for the new lifts in the station courtyard and on Argyle Street  
• work on both the Argyle Street and Lackey Road footbridges 
• removing trees on Dalys Way to make space for the new parking arrangement and road resurfacing 

What will this mean for the community?

• A pick-up and drop-off zone will be available at the station entrance, except for the weekend of Saturday 14 September and Sunday 15 September, when buses are replacing trains. All buses will leave from Argyle Street near Leighton Gardens. During this time, there will also be no pedestrian access on Dalys Way or the Lackey Road footbridge. Traffic control will be in place to direct pedestrians and vehicles.
• Argyle Street car park will be closed from 3pm Friday 13 September until 6pm Sunday 15 September to allow for crane set up and steel deliveries. Traffic control will guide vehicles during this time.
• Traffic controllers on Lackey Road will direct traffic when the southbound lane is closed from Parkes Road towards Argyle Street/Illawarra Highway. There will be no detours and traffic will be bi-directional with reduced speed limits in place. 

October works will include:

Construction continues around the station building and on Argyle St, Lackey Rd and Dalys Way, including:

• civil works within station forecourt with archaelogical supervision.
• modifying commuter access and parking: revised disability parking in station forecourt.
• civil work on Argyle St, installing steel for new ramp.
• installing lift glazing, brickwork and lift car in courtyard and Argyle St.
• civil work to excavate and install lift pit for Lackey Rd lift.
• upgrading family accessible toilet and entrance to ladies toilet
• disconnection of exisiting light fittings and fixtures.
• Most works will be carried out during standard construction hours, 7.00 am - 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am - 1.00 pm Saturdays.

What will this mean for the community?

• access closed to pedestrians via Argyle St.
• Traffic control along Lackey Rd.
• Large vehicles in the area
• Customer access to station waiting rooms via rear door.
• alternative toilet facilities available within the station forecourt. Signage available.

November works will include

Construction continues this month around the station building and on Argyle Street, Lackey Road and Daly's Way, including:

• excavation work including archaeological supervision, plumbing, new kerbs and gutters.
• scaffolding will go up around the lifts at the Argyle St entrance.
• works inside the station on the Family Accessible Toilet.
• work at Lackey Rd footbridge and stairs with excavation and concrete being poured.
• major excavation and partial removal of the track and existing amenities will begin in the permanent stabling yard. Including a 100,000L detention tank installation by medium sized crane.
• large vehicle movement with traffic control in place on Lackey Rd as needed.
• Up to 4 car spaces may be temporarily unavailable in the commuter car park on Dalys Way.
• Most works will be carried out during standard construction hours, 7.00 am - 6.00 pm Monday to Friday, and 8.00 am - 1.00 pm Saturdays.

Out of hours works

Out-of-hours work will be carried out between 6.00 am Saturday 23 November and 6.00 pm Sunday 24 November. For the safety of staff and passengers this will take place during a scheduled Sydney Trains trackwork period when no trains are running, and the station is closed. Replacement bus service will operate from Argyle Street near Leighton Gardens.

The out of hours works will include:

• asphalt resurfacing.
• installing tactile indicators on Platform 1. 
• upgrading power and communications systems.
• painting the footbridge, repair and electrical work.
• civil works within the commuter car park on Dalys Way.

What will this mean for the Community?

Passengers will notice changes to access of the station and parking in the station forecourt with revised locations for accessible parking spaces to the left of the station building.

- vehicle access will change to one-way traffic on Dalys Way with manned traffic control and/or boom gates or traffic lights in place at the top of Dalys Way
- pedestrian access on Dalys Way will change to the opposite side of the road. A marked footpath with temporary safety barriers will be established 
- some parking spaces will be reinstated in the station forecourt near the entrance 
- access to the station waiting room will remain via the rear doors. 

 Alternate toilet facilities will be provided at the station forecourt. Please follow the signage provided for access

In December works will include

A continuation of construction activities around the station building and on Argyle Street, Lackey Road and Dalys Way.

• work in the forecourt and station entrance including some excavation with archaeological supervision, plumbing and new kerb.
• work around the lifts at Argyle St entrance and the courtyard.
• finalising work on Accessible Toilet.
• continued work on compound at Lackey Rd railway footbridge for the new lift installation.
• continued track work at permanent stabling yard and retaining wall construction.
• work around mobile train simulator near Dalys Way.

What will this mean for the Community

• Lackey Road will be closed between Garrett Street and Parkes Road from 7.00 am to 6.00 pm on Thursday 5 December due to large vehicle movements and deliveries. Detour routes will be clearly marked and traffic control will be in place to assist residents and businesses.
• Vehicle access on Dalys Way will change to single lane, with traffic control and/or boom gates or traffic lights in place.
• Pedestrian access relocated to the opposite side of Dalys Way with a marked footpath and temporary safety barriers.

When and what time will works take place?

Most work will be carried out during extended construction hours, from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm Saturdays.

In January works will include

Transport for NSW will continue carrying out construction activities in and around the station and stabling yard, as well as on Argyle Street, Lackey Road and Dalys Way. Work will be scaled back over the Christmas period.

During this period we’ll be:

• starting work from the Argyle Street footpath to the footbridge, requiring minor road changes and an alternate marked walkway 
• removing temporary amenities at the station forecourt. Work will restart in January in the male and female toilets
• making minor temporary adjustments to parking and space within the forecourt
• continuing work on the stabling yard
• installing the Lackey Road lift and platform lift from mid-January. There will be no additional impacts with all work contained to the existing work areas

What will this mean for the Community

• Revised location of Disability (DDA) parking in the commuter car park closest to the station. 
• Reinstating some parking spaces.
• Relocation of the pedestrian access to Lackey Road side on Dalys Way, with a marked footpath and safety barriers.
• One-way vehicle access on Dalys Way with traffic control and boom gates/traffic lights.
• Access to waiting room via rear doors.
• Work commencing for female waiting room and male toilet in early January. Temporary facilities will be available.

Work will be carried out during standard construction hours, 7.00 am to 6.00 pm Monday to Friday and 8.00 am to 1.00 pm Saturdays.
