Where to dispose;
Fluorescent light globes and tubes can be dropped off free of charge at the CRC, which are then collected by Tox Free, Cleanaway as part of an EPA approved program.
As fluorescent tubes and globes contain mercury, they are crushed by recyclers to separate phosphor powder from the glass. This powder is fed through receiving containers and filtered to capture mercury emissions. The mercury is then separated by distillation and sold for industrial use. The separated metal is also recycled.
