Join us for this months Atrium exhibition running for the month of January. The exhibition is celebrating the Sydney Puppet Theatre and ImaginArta puppetry companies with a multimedia exhibition exploring puppets, the technology and staging behind them, and a recent exhibition facilitated by Southern Tablelands Arts - Connect@GunningStation.

Wingecarribee is lucky to be the home of the ImaginArta Australian Puppet Centre, a museum and puppet theatre in Sutton Forest. Every week at 11.00 am on Sunday morning, ImaginArta presents a world-class puppet show for the community. Internationally established Master puppeteers Sue Wallace and Steve Coupe create puppets and performances that have delighted audiences of all ages over many decades.

The Atrium exhibition showcases photographs of characters from ImaginArta’s diverse puppet shows as well as displaying some of the actual puppets, one shadow puppet background set and wooden models demonstrating the creation of carved wooden hands and technological models revealing the mechanism behind some of the more complex puppets’ moving eyes.

Anyone who has seen ImaginArta’s puppet shows will recognise some familiar characters, such as Zerafa and Nella. Works of art on display include puppets and associated objects made over decades of creative work. A Southern Tablelands Arts touring exhibition.
