After winning the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund in 2017, she decided to use the $140,000 prize to embark on a mission that no one had yet accomplished: creating a truly sustainable fashion collection. The collection, named No Frills, aimed to challenge the traditional fashion industry by prioritizing ethics and sustainability over profit.

Driven by her belief that "I can’t create something to make one woman feel incredible to the detriment of the people in my supply chain," Powney delved into the complex and opaque world of textile production.
