In Transit Atrium Exhibition
Next date: Monday, 03 February 2025 | 08:30 AM
to Monday, 03 March 2025 | 04:30 PM
Our latest Atrium exhibition features two photographic series by local photographer Hamish Ta-mé.In Transit, looks at movement, connection and the human condition through two series of work - La Petite Mort (The Little Death) and In Transit.
In La Petite Mort, Ta-mé captures elite athletes suspended in their quest to escape the pull of gravity. Conversely, In Transit explores the quieter, often overlooked rhythms of human movement.
Through intimate portraits captured on train journeys and around the township of Gunning, Ta-mé reveals the energy of strangers briefly united in a shared voyage. Together, these works explore the tensions between stillness and motion, isolation and connection, freedom and gravity. Both series remind us that life’s most profound experiences are found in the in-between: the pause before the fall, the glances exchanged between commuters, the spaces where our individual stories meet. This exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the universal desire for freedom — whether from the forces of nature, societal rules, or the confines of routine — and the fleeting moments that make such liberation both special and rare.
Please join us on Monday 3 February at 3.00 pm for an artist talk and afternoon tea. Hamish will be sharing insights about the two series exhibited and how he created these bodies of work.
This event is free and no registration or RSVP is required.
