Why Repair / Upcycle textiles?

Extending the life of your clothing or other textiles reduces waste, saves money, and minimizes the environmental impact of fast fashion. By wearing clothes longer, you decrease the demand for new production, which lowers carbon emissions and resource consumption. You can increase clothing longevity by washing less frequently, using cold water, and air drying. Proper storage, mending minor damage, and choosing high-quality, timeless pieces also help. Upcycling or repurposing old garments can breathe new life into your wardrobe, further reducing waste and promoting sustainability. Small changes in care can make a big difference for both your wallet and the planet.

Drop in style sewing sessions to fix and make with wonderful Volunteers from Vinnies’ Creative Space.

Vinnies’ Creative Space is a not-for-profit Community Outreach Program doing wonderful things in our community. They create accessible safe spaces for community connection where everyone is welcome.
