For the month of September Wingecarribee Shire Council's Atrium Exhibition series is proud to present "The Portfolio Show," a collection of photographs and maps by Tony Sheffield.

A Longstanding Resident and Renowned Photographer

A resident of the Southern Highlands for 23 years and former Chief Photographer for Highlife Magazine, Tony Sheffield is a seasoned photographer whose career has spanned 50 years. This exhibition showcases a selection of his best work, offering a glimpse into the beauty and diversity of the Shire.

Capturing the Essence of the Southern Highlands

The exhibition features over 60 stunning works on canvas, cotton rag, and archival paper. Visitors will be treated to a range of captivating images, including:

  • Breathtaking landscapes of the Southern Highlands
  • Images of horses, plants, and the unique rural life of the area
  • Captivating photographs of Highland cattle and sheep

A Celebration of Place and Photography

Sheffield uses his expert eye to capture the unique character of the Southern Highlands, showcasing its beauty across different seasons and weather conditions. His photographs not only inspire a love for photography but also serve as a guide to the many wonderful places the Shire has to offer.

From Film to Digital: A Journey in Photography

Memorabilia displayed as part of the exhibition evidence Sheffield's transition from film photography to the digital realm.

A New Venture: Digital Map Restoration

Beyond photography, Sheffield has embarked on a new project: the meticulous restoration of vintage maps and local government surveys. This painstaking process involves transforming them into beautiful "Art Maps" while preserving their historical accuracy. Visitors can also view the first of his original creations, a river map entitled "Wingecarribee River – Its source to the Wollondilly" which debuts in this exhibition.
